Face off against Ultra Instinct Shaggy

VS Shaggy - Friday Night Funkin' Mod is a free video game utility wherein you get to battle one of the most iconic characters from an old kid’s show. Developed by srPerez, this mod features a new enemy to fight in the popular music game, Friday Night Funkin', and 7 new songs to master.

Just like the VS Tord and Hatsune Miku mods, the new opponent you’re facing is a character from an existing media. What’s unique about VS Shaggy, though, is that it’s the first FNF mod to use more than four keys for your gameplay controls.

The power of 0.001%

Created for the Ludum Dare 47, Friday Night Funkin' is a 2020 free open-source rhythm game developed by ninjamuffin99. In it, you must win challenging rap battles to impress your girlfriend. The gameplay consists simply of accurately hitting as many of the arrows in time to the beat as much as possible. The game’s open-source status encouraged many fans to create mods for more content.

One of these is VS Shaggy or the Shaggy Mod, which adds in Norville "Shaggy" Rogers from the 1969 Scooby-Doo animated series. Shaggy is iconic for being the resident scaredy-cat of the main cast but has since evolved into a pop-culture meme as a god-like being—likened to that of those from the Dragon Ball anime series. This continuity appears in the mod’s story, wherein you battle him and his strange powers.

This mod adds 7 new songs, divided into two weeks and one final battle, which is interesting as most mods usually just offer one week. However, what’s really interesting is that three of these use 6 keys instead of 4 while the final song uses a whopping 9 keys. There are three keybindings for this: default, WASD, and ZX23. However, using ZX23 for the final song will disable the Pause menu.

A different kind of challenge

All in all, VS Shaggy - Friday Night Funkin' Mod is a highly interesting mod of Friday Night Funkin’. It adds more songs than most mods of its kind and it even brings in a new gameplay mechanic that will appeal to rhythm game fans. While not all supported keybindings can be easily used due to this mechanic, it’s easy enough to change your choice and challenge this mod more comfortably.
